GOETHE’S BRAINSTORMING MONTHLY DEBATE IS HERE AGAIN
One may argue that Rwanda has already become quite “western”. However, which point has this metamorphosis reached and should Rwandans follow this track to the very end? The hot spot of the arena will be shared by two competing teams of award winning debaters. The public will decide at the end which arguments were the most thrilling.
It has been a common question in the minds of many Rwandans all over the country where everyone wondered: “Should the West serve as a model in any respect? Should Western lifestyle be taken up, ways of dressing, commercialization, leadership systems, entertainment, code of conduct and other various aspects? To which degree have we already been “Westernized” and given up our tradistions and identity without being aware of?
The day has come to listen from the Rwandan youth about what they say on this issue in this public debate together with debaters from one of the best debater teams. IDEBATE Rwanda is a youth organization comprised of all the best national debaters in Rwanda who have competed on both national and international level, managing to take up the best positions. They include Samuel BAKER, Best national debater 2011, Jean Michel HABINEZA, third best speaker in the 2011 USA Universities Debate Challenge, Christine TETA who won the First National Debater Award 2009. After a battle of words, pro and contra also the audience will be invited to have its say.
